Diploma with Honors
The Ohio Department of Education is currently updating criteria for future Honors Diploma requirements. Students who entered 9th grade before July 1, 2017 (graduating classes of 2018, 2019 and 2020) can earn an Honors Diploma under the current criteria as shown below or under the proposed new criteria. Students entering 9th grade in the Fall of 2017 will need to meet the new criteria.

- earn four units of English
- earn four units of mathematics that include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and another higher level course or a 4-year sequence of courses that contain equivalent or higher content
- earn four units of science including 2 units of advanced science
- earn four units of social studies
- earn either three units of one world language or two units each of two world languages
- earn one unit of fine arts
- maintain an overall high school grade point average of at least 3.5 on an unweighted 4.0 scale up to the last grading period of the senior year
- obtain a composite score of 27 on the ACT or a 1280 combined Critical Reading & Math score on the SAT.
**Students who are participating in an EXCEL TECC program should see their counselor for information regarding the Career/Technical curriculum Honors Diploma requirements.
